VU ATX partners with amazing organizations from all over Austin. Get to know some of our partners and learn more about volunteering opportunities directly through these great nonprofits; 

Our mission is to provide affordable, accessible, and integrated housing in Austin for people with disabilities that are low income. AHA! is the only housing non-profit in Austin led by members of the disability community.

We serve the Austin community by providing life-saving programs for animals, educational events for people of all ages, and aiding in emergency response.

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area serve more than 3,000 registered members at 25 locations in Travis and Bastrop counties in schools, community centers, and public housing sites.

We provide affordable, attractive homes and free on-site support services for thousands of families with kids, as well as veterans, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. We offer an innovative, proven model that empowers our residents and neighbors to achieve educational success, financial stability, and healthier lifestyles.

The GiveJoy Foundation is a 501(c)(3) seeking to spread joy by providing students and families with resources related to physical health (body), mental wellness (mind), and character development (heart/soul). resources.

The University of Texas at Austin Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center uses native plants to restore and create sustainable, beautiful landscapes. We carry out our mission to inspire the conservation of native plants through our gardens, research, education, and outreach programs. In doing so, we improve water quality, provide habitat for wildlife, and enhance human health and happiness.

Through the support of thousands of volunteers, Mobile Loaves & Fishes food trucks hit the streets of Austin 7 nights a week, 365 days a year to provide food, clothing and other life-sustaining items to homeless men and women who are struggling to survive. With more than 6 million meals served, MLF has grown to become the largest prepared feeding program to the homeless in Central Texas and has spawned similar food truck programs in other cities across the country.

Multicultural Refugee Coalition (MRC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization employing refugees, immigrants, and asylees in fair-wage, dignified work through two social enterprises: a textile manufacturing studio and an organic farm.

Our mission is to provide joy, hope, and normalcy to children in foster care through a personalized birthday experience. Our vision is to make sure every child in foster care in our service area is recognized and celebrated on their birthday.

Sammy’s House is a nonprofit agency that provides services for children with and without special needs.  We operate a child development center, a respite care program, summer camp and family support services to fill the gaps in services for children, especially those who are medically fragile and/or developmentally delayed in the Austin, TX and surrounding area. Our programs serve children 0-16 years old.

YWCA Greater Austin is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families and strengthen communities. Today we combine programming and advocacy in order to generate institutional change in three key areas: racial justice and civil rights, empowerment and economic advancement of women and girls, and health and safety of women and girls.

We're a 501(c)(3) Animal Rescue Farm and Organization in Austin, Texas! We provide rescue, rehabilitation and a forever home to farmed animals.

We rehabilitate and release orphaned, injured and sick wildlife. We care for nearly 9,000 wild animals while also providing educational programs, hiring additional staff, and training more volunteers than ever before.

We work with food donors across the country, financial supporters and volunteers to fill unmet needs in Central Texas. This commitment from private, government and charitable partners has allowed us to bring nearly 54 million meals to our community last year and into the hands of families and local nonprofits that turn to us for help.

Festival Beach Food Forest is a grassroots pilot project neighboring the Festival Beach Community Garden and RBJ Residential Center in East Austin. They have transformed 2/3rds of an acre of City Park Land into an edible forest garden where visitors can openly forage and enjoy fresh food on the shores of Lady Bird Lake. Fruits, nuts, vegetables and herbs now flourish in this experimental pilot project to reclaim the public commons.

HopeAustin is a 501(c) charitable organization creating opportunities for the youngest members of our community through food security. By providing weekend meals to students who lose their subsidized meals offered during the school week, HopeAustin ensures the brightest future for our children and the broader community by ensuring children have every opportunity to learn and thrive without hunger.

Over the next decades, the number of Central Texans over 65 is expected to continue to grow exponentially—both in number and as a percentage of the overall population. At the current rate of growth, it is projected that by 2034, older adults will outnumber children in the U.S. The mission of Meals on Wheels Central Texas is to support this growing number of older adults through programs that improve their health and quality of life.

The Monarch Sanctuary Project is a 501c3 non-profit organization that tethers monarch conservation to the human experience.

 

We encourage and maintain natural habitats, offer digestible education, and create a sense of awareness and agency in our local communities.

Partnerships for Children was founded in 2003 to bridge the gap between limited government resources and the growing needs of children and families in the care of Child Protective Services (CPS). We are the backbone support for Foster Community - a network of nonprofits, government agencies and community leaders dedicated to enhancing community support for families involved or at risk of involvement with the child welfare system.
